How do I help my student choose a major?

It's all about asking the right questions and empowering your student to make their own choices. It is okay if your student doesn't know what major might be the best fit.

As a freshman, your student has a year to take some general courses, meet new friends, connect with faculty and determine what department and degree is right for them. Also, CaneCareers is a great resource for exploring career options.

    Center for Academic Advising

Professional advisors empower students to develop personalized educational goals which align with their academic and career interests. Once the enrollment fee is paid, your student's academic advisor will be able to assist with advising, enrollment, course scheduling, degree planning and course add/drops. Enrollment for the fall semester starts late spring.

Transfer Credit and Credit by Exam

The Office of the Registrar evaluates and records the amount of transfer credit and credit by examination an undergraduate can apply towards graduation requirements. Credit may also be awarded for certain Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Programs, or Cambridge International A/AS Level exams.

The University of Tulsa awards credit based on course work completed at U.S. colleges or universities accredited by a regional accrediting association; or course work completed at international colleges or universities of recognized standing.

The Transfer Credit Guide provides information about how previously reviewed courses from other institutions transferred into The University of Tulsa. It is intended to be used as an unofficial guide in consultation with a professional academic advisor.  Final transferability decisions are made once an official transcript has been received in the Office of the Registrar.
